AUTOCLEAR/ Control Screening, a leader in the Security Screening industry for over 70 years, presents its newest technology: the Liquid Explosives Bottle Scanner. This feature enables screeners to examine the contents of bottles, receptacles, and metal cans more effectively. This device is able to penetrate any metal can (29mm thickness of steel) and other dense or irregular containers, such as wine / liquor bottles.

Through the use of sophisticated algorithms, the scanner can differentiate between explosives, incendiaries, and benign substances like water, beverages, and alcohol. This unit is also able to screen for emulsions and powders. Appearing differently than a liquid on the monitor, such dry powders would be caught immediately, due also to the fact that they are not usually contained in a bottle or metal can.

The AUTOCLEAR Bottle Scanner is designed to work on the X-ray scanner model 4626, as well as any of the larger tunnel models. The toggle key located on the X-ray’s control panel allows the user to simply switch between the bottle scanning function and the normal X-ray scanning function. In the Bottle Scanner mode, an image of the bottle, any false containers, as well as the results, are displayed. If the scanner detects an imposing threat, the message on the monitor reads, “Threat Detected.”

There are virtually no false alarms in the bottle/ metal can scanning mode. In rare instances, when large amounts of non-threatening mild distillates are scanned, the unit will falsely alarm. However, no false alarms are recorded on either alcoholic or non-alcoholic beverages. Units have been purchased for use in the Middle East and also for testing by aviation authorities.
